With 45 states and more than 8,000 jurisdictions collecting sales and use tax, understanding the precise location of a service or delivery address is critical for the proper billing, collection and remittance of transaction taxes, as well as the proper assessment of tangible personal property for general businesses and utilities.
Site-US Tax identifies tax jurisdictions based on the location of a property by combining our high-precision geocoding and spatial analytics technologies with municipal and parcel boundaries and tax data. Unlike ZIP code-based solutions, which are prone to errors, Site-US Tax helps you avoid costly audits, customer service problems and noncompliance issues. Site-US Tax identifies the various special tax districts associated with an address. It can also determine the applicability of the district tax file for all CoreLogic transaction tax files.
Compatible with most popular tax-rate software, Site-US Tax provides the correct jurisdiction information, geographic coordinates and the in-city or out-of-city indicator, enabling the tax engine to apply the correct tax rates and rules. Site-US Tax integrates seamlessly into existing architectures or can be hosted via an XML/SOAP Web service. Additionally, you can access Site-US Tax Online, a subscription-based Web portal, to process a single address or address file.
Site-US Tax has received certification from the Colorado Department of Revenue and as a communications service tax database by the Florida Department of Revenue. We also build and maintain the streamlined sales tax project (SSTP) files for the state of Nebraska.
Accurate Tax Jurisdiction Assignment
Site-US Tax uses precise geocoding, spatial analysis and an updated nationwide tax database to deliver the most accurate assignment of tax jurisdictions.
Because Site-US Tax uses location intelligence to determine the tax jurisdiction, errors common to solutions that use a ZIP code or ZIP+4 lookup table do not occur. ZIP codes and postal data were developed for delivering mail and are not accurate for tax situsing because:
- Municipal boundaries constantly change
- A postal city is not the same as a taxing city
- ZIP codes may cross municipal boundaries
- ZIP codes may cross county boundaries
Site-US Tax delivers a precise level of accuracy that allows you to feel confident that you are assigning the proper tax jurisdiction to a customer record, avoiding costly audits, customer service issues and even class-action lawsuits.
Managed Databases
Our staff is dedicated to collecting and maintaining our databases for sales and use, income and industry-specific taxes, including cable, leasing, telecommunications, utility, property, payroll and special tax districts. We provide quarterly updates for our jurisdiction boundaries and transaction tax information. In addition, our tax jurisdiction database provides access to municipality data as well as enhanced tax data.
SAP Address Link
A Total Tax and Address Validation Solution
Most tax software provides tax jurisdictions associated with an address. Yet, various technology problems exist that lead to inaccuracies. DuCharme, McMillen & Associates, Inc. (DMA), a system integrator, recognized the high rate of inaccuracies in today's software and developed SAP Address Link, an interface that seamlessly integrates Site-US Tax with external calculation software and SAP or other ERP systems. SAP Address Link is the only system that automatically assigns a TaxWare or Vertex tax jurisdiction code to individual addresses.
Benefits:
- Avoids manual user intervention (pop-up windows) during tax jurisdiction code assignment when an address/ZIP code falls into multiple counties or municipal boundaries. This can be especially helpful in batch EDI and Internet processing
- Prevents users from saving an invalid address
- Integrates with mapping software applications to add mapping capabilities for address visualization
- Determines tax jurisdiction for places not associated with a street address
- Reduces cost associated with returned or undeliverable mail due to incorrect addresses
- Increases tax compliance and eliminates the need for tax adjustment postings due to the assignment of incorrect tax jurisdiction codes
